The Searchlight® Virtual School was created in an effort to harness the power of the electronic media to connect with teens, young adults, adults, and catechists who, for whatever reason, are unable to attend religious instruction, faith formation classes, or catechist training at their local parish within the Diocese of Palm Beach. As outlined in the school’s policies, the Parish Catechetical Leader or PCL (i.e. Director of Religious Education or Coordinator of Youth Ministry) will be notified when students from their parish enroll in a certificate program. The Parish Catechetical Leader will again be notified when students have received either a Certificate of Completion or Diocesan Certification in a Searchlight® Virtual School program. |
As co-participators in the Church's mission of evangelization, let us work together to provide religious education and faith formation opportunities for everyone, whether in the classroom or over the internet. The Management of the Searchlight® Virtual School extends an invitation to each and every parish to offer ideas and suggestions as to how the Searchlight® Virtual School and the parish can collaborate efforts to reach out to all those who seek a knowledge and understanding of the Way of Jesus Christ and his Church. |
A Parish May Underwrite the Cost of Online Catechist Certification!
Steps for using the Group Underwriting Process:

The parish PCL must send a list of the names of those persons who will be enrolling from their parish to the Searchlight® Virtual School. We have provided a downloadable electronic form which the PCL can print and complete. (See link below.)

The form must be mailed along with a check for the cost of the training: $30.00 per Catechist.

When we receive the "Group Underwriting" form and payment, the PCL will be notified that the Group Underwriting Process is complete for their parish. The PCL should then notify those involved that they can either begin the individual enrollment process, if they haven't already done so, or register for their first online class, if they have already enrolled in the school.

Catechists who are part of a group underwriting by a parish must still complete the individual enrollment process. They may complete the Searchlight® Virtual School enrollment process at any time, but may not begin registering for online classes until the parish has completed the group underwriting process.
