Searchlight® Virtual School Mission Statement

"Perfect fidelity to Catholic doctrine is compatible with a rich diversity of presentation" (GDC 122).

The mission of the Searchlight® Virtual School is to harness the power of the electronic media and connect with adolescents, young adults, and adults in the everyday circumstances of their lives. Through the combined use of technology and the internet, and in keeping with the goals of the General Directory for Catechesis, we seek to:

    • Encourage a living, explicit, and fruitful profession of faith;
    • Cultivate a new and vital experience of God as merciful Father;
    • Foster a more profound rediscovery of Jesus Christ, not only in his divinity but also in his humanity;
    • Stimulate a conscious and fervent participation in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church;
    • Equip disciples of Jesus to be present as Christians in society through their professional, cultural, and social lives;
    • Bring forth a raising of consciousness with regard to the social obligations of the faith;
    • Develop a sense of co-responsibility on the part of all for the Church's mission of evangelization;
    • Participate in the preparation and formation of Catechists in the deep riches of the faith.
