Deepen your own faith, grow in your discipleship, AND HELP OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE ALONG THE WAY!

YOUNG PEOPLE: THE CHURCH NEEDS YOU!

The Church's mission is to bring the love, compassion, and mercy of Jesus Christ to the world, to show care and concern for every person the way Jesus did, and to trust in the power, peace, and strength for living that is found in him.  This is what it means to "establish the Kingdom of God." The Church uses the term "evangelization" to describe this effort.

  • Every baptized member of the Body of Christ is called to evangelize.  (This includes kids!)

  • By your participation in the Youth Evangelizer Certification program you can share in the Church's mission of evangelization -- the mission of bringing the love, compassion, and caring of Jesus to others.

  • Since young people look to their peers for guidance and friendship, more than to any other group, you can become an evangelizer to the young people around you who need it most.

  • Powerful and effective evangelization does not necessarily involve words!  It's more about ACTIONS! Sometimes what seems a small, insignigicant, everyday thing can have a huge impact on someone in need.

  • What made Jesus so attractive, especially to those who were neglected and rejected by the "in crowd" of his day, was his habit of getting to the "heart" of the person, his way of showing genuine interest and concern for each individual.

  • Every day, if you pay attention, you will become aware of many young people who are lonely, isolated, left out, teased, ridiculed, picked on, abused, or simply ignored.

  • Here are some ways you can evangelize (be Jesus to) others:
    • Smile, wave, or say hello to the kid everyone else seems to ignore.
    • Sit next to the one on the bus that others avoid.
    • Choose a seat in the cafeteria that puts you in close proximity to the kid who often sits alone... draw him or her into conversation.
    • Be a friend to the boy or girl who is too shy to break into your crowd.
    • Avoid ridiculing behavior and put-down remarks ... no matter who it's about!

  • This list offers only a few suggestions. Opportunities to evangelize are everywhwere once you understand that evangelizing is first and foremost about "being" Jesus to others.

  • Every classroom, school corridor, cafeteria, bus stop, school bus, sporting event, and pep rally... anywhere young people gather, offers unlimited possibilities to evangelize.

  • Young people are the best evangelizers for other young people because they understand the pressure and challenges that young people face every day.

  • The Church needs youth evangelizers!  THE CHURCH NEEDS YOU!!

Become a "Youth Evangelizer!"   You might be surprised at how fulfilling and rewarding evangelizing your peers can be!
